HPP “Perucica” marks its 53rd birthday

Hydro power plant “Perucica” on May 12th marks its 53rd anniversary. The oldest Montenegrin great power, thanks to strong inflows and good operational readiness, started 2013 very successfully. In the first three months almost 540GWh of electricity was produced, which is 63% more than planned. It is expected that the positive results will continue in the second quarter and it seems possible that the annual production plan will be reached before yearly overhaul in August.

All seven aggregates, from the end of last year are working at maximum capacity, without the slightest delay, and in March daily and monthly records in production were achieved.
Within the HE "Perućica" whose installed capacity is 307 MW and possible annual production of 1,300 GWh, there are five small hydropower plants (on the territory of Podgorica, Cetinje and Savnik). With yearly production of almost 20 million KWh, small HPP’s represent precious sources at a time of strong lack of electricity.

HPP "Perucica" is located in the northern part of Bjelopavlici plains, its first quantities of electricity to Montenegrin power system it delivered in 1960, and it was named after the hot Perucica, which originates in its immediate vicinity.

For electricity generation HPP "Perucica" uses water from the river Zeta and waters from Niksic field at extremely favorable fall on a short distance to the Perucica’s turbines. Within the HPP "Perucica" are the accumulations "Krupac", "Slano" and "Vrtac".
