Participants of the summer "GIZ" school visited HPP "Perućica"

Thirty students of summer school "Planet in your hands," operating within the GIZ (former GTZ), German Organization for International Cooperation, visited our oldest power plant, "Perucica". This trip was organized in order for students to directly, through the functioning of the plant, take a closer look at the problems of energy efficiency.

This German Agency for Technical Cooperation supports social and technical projects in various areas of developing countries. The group that visited "Perucica" has been working on a project for support to energy efficiency since 2009. One of the measures taken is raising the awareness about the need for energy efficiency among the population, and are focusing on students of final grades.
Milena Besic, group leader, explains that most students are only theoretically informed about the process of electricity generation, and that the visit to "Perućica" was an opportunity to find out everything that interests them. Facilities of hydroelectric systems and power generation are no longer an abstraction for them. Thanks to the kind hosts who, in a simple and popular way, explained all the processes, students leave richer for a great experience.

As the name of our school says, the planet will remain in their hands, so we have to pass all our knowledge on them, and they will further, through concern about the rationality and energy efficiency, improve it and upgrade it, said Milena Besic.
