Employees of “Elektrošumadija” and students of Primary school “Dobroslav Đedo Perunović” visited HPP “Piva”

An impressive electric power facility, constructed in the ambient of very inspiring nature, has always attracted a large number of curious visitors.  Visiting this impressive facility was for a long time included in the offers of some famous touristic agencies. In the last thirty five years, HPP “Piva” was visited by a large number of trip and touristic tours, educational excursions, as well as individual visits.   HPP “Piva” was recently visited by a large group of employees of “Elektrošumadija” from Kragujevac who after rafting “the tear of Europe” came to see one of the most impressive dams in Europe and generators “hidden” in the mountain massif.

Nikola Pavićević from Kragujevac, one of our friendly speakers, told us that their company organizes visits of touristic locations and electric power facilities twice in a year.

- This is the first time to visit your power plant, last year we saw only the dam. The facility is truly impressive, making people breathless. Its height and the system embedded in the mountain are very impressive, being permanently in mind of the visitors. Natural beauties are extraordinary and we have been rafting here for a number of years. Visiting the power plant enabled us both to enjoy and get useful information.

Slaviša Anđelić, the trip leader and president of the sport club of “Elektrošumadija”, expressed his positive impressions and said, inspired by Andrić, that something beautiful may be found everywhere, as well as something good and valuable among people. Piva is, certainly, the preciousness of Montenegro, both in the aspect of generation and tourism – Anđelić said.

Students of Primary school “Dobroslav Đedo Perunović” from Bogetići, about thirty of them with the teacher, visited HPP “Piva” during a daily educational trip. Curious students were interested to find out who “invented” it, how it was constructed and how much time was needed to construct such a plant.  The young are always the most curious, while friendly leaders Duško Knežević, engineer of geology and Lucija Mitrić, civil technician enabled to the visitors from Bogetići to safely observe the dam and to take a look behind the circuit breakers.

There were many questions asked by the children. They were observing the dam, its height, admiring the story about the difficult construction of such a facility in the canyon, as well as difficulties of the constructors who had to use ropes to reach the construction site, sometimes even a few hundred meters long distance. While teacher Vojo was emphasizing the fact that visiting the locations such as HPP “Piva” is a very effective method of education but also a good opportunity for Elektroprivreda to make a good communication with children and explain them the model of reasonable attitude towards electricity, the impressions of children were reflected in the saying of Milica, eighth- grade student: “Good is not a word strong enough to describe this day; it was EXCELLENT!”
