ROVČANIN FOR RTCG: WE ARE PAVING, RECULTIVATING AND BUILDING AT AN ACCELERATED PACE

“You deserve only praise and compliments”. Thus, Dragan Lučić, the president of Local Community Zabrđe, commented on the recently performed works on the area of one part of the landfill on Maljevac.

Until yesterday – there were ash and slag, today - grass and young seedlings, it is a picture of a part of the landfill on Maljevac.

"We harvest everything, even the grass that we haven't had the opportunity to see in the last 30-40 years," Lucic explains the drastic transformation of the landfill.

The locals of the villages around the Thermal Power Plant, after decades of dissatisfaction due to the threat of its work, have finally met better days. They say: the tangible effects of the remediation works carried out so far are also visible.

"It was prevented that powdered substances continue to further scatter during the winds, both atmospheric and spring waters were captured, everything was brought to some, let's call it - satisfactory condition, so the citizens themselves complain less ..." - the president of Local Community Zabrdje points out.

The road along the edge of the landfill, which is used by the locals of many villages, has also been repaired.

“Elektroprivreda Crne Gore financed the rehabilitation of the road from the bridge at Vezišnica to Maljevac, with the total surface area of 2800 m2 of asphalt. Of course, this complete route will be finished and defined after the recultivation of the cassette 1 and cassette 3, where there will be a sidewalk part and all the traffic infrastructure that is necessary “, says Nikola Rovčanin, Chief Executive Officer of Elektroprivreda Crne Gore. ….

Rovčanin promises the continuing of rehabilitation, but also the development projects:

"We are accelerating the dynamics in all works, not only at the reclamation of the landfill, not only at the traffic infrastructure, but at the construction of the hydroelectric power plant Otilovići, heating of the municipality of Pljevlja and ecological reconstruction of the Thermal Power Plant, to the satisfaction of the state of Montenegro and Pljevlja municipality."

Dragan is especially looking forward to the future park as a place to relax and enjoy.

"Various planting material was planted, park equipment was installed, it was done so that we have walking paths, we have everything ... I think that this will be, in a way, satisfactory for both, walkers and observers, as well as for the users themselves and citizens "- Lucic is convinced.

The thermal power plant has long been accompanied by the epithet of the culprit for the largest number of environmental incidents, and even for the total pollution by which Pljevlja is recognized. The investments so far suggest its deletion, but the locals and the ecological public are looking forward to the continuation of works and the planned ecological reconstruction of our only coal-fired power plant.
