RECLAMATION OF MALJEVAC LANDFILL HAS STARTED

In response to information published in some media about flying dust, caused by a strong south wind from the Landfill Maljevac in Pljevlja we would like to inform the public about the following:

‘For those reasons, inter alia, ECPG undertook approximately 20M€ worth project on phase reclamation of the Landfill. Let us remind you of the fact that approximately 9M€ was spent over the last year in rehabilitation of ash and slag landfill, the completion of which is expected by the end of 2023, when we, also, expect to have the project on ecological retrofitting of TPP Pljevlja finished.

To this effect, expropriation of 300m wide belt from the landfill is in its final phase and cca 8M€ was allocated for settlement of property-legal issues with 68 families, who possess estate in the vicinity of the landfill.

Operations initiated on 22nd of August that encompass stripping-off of the upper humus layer and removal of bush from the mere location and access road are currently ongoing. The phase work encompasses firstly, reclamation of the second, then the first and at the end the third cassette as well as relocation of the Paleški Stream.

EPCG acquired a civil permit while the Agency for nature and environment protection signed a 4M€ worth Contract at the end of July this year, and is expected to start implementing the reclamation of cassette II with the entrusted Consortium in the midst of September.

By the Landfill reclamation we will create a green belt, whereat suitable bushes and trees will be planted and thus Pljevlja will get a well-arranged park.’
