HPP 'Komarnica' design to be completed in november

The Preliminary Design of the future HPP 'Komarnica' should be completed in November this year, thus creating conditions for the beginning of construction of this hydro-power facility, as concluded at the regular meeting held in Nikšić and attended by EPCG management and representatives of the designers - ‘Jaroslav Černi’ Institute for the Development of Water Resources and the company Hidroinženjering AD Beograd.

The development of project documents is made in accordance with the Agreement on Joint Financing the Implementation of Preparatory Works for the concerned project, concluded in 1992 by Electric Power Company of Montenegro (EPCG) and Electric Power Industry of Serbia (EPS), which defined the cost share EPCG: 51% - EPS: 49%.

On behalf of EPCG, the meeting was attended by Milutin Đukanović, the Chairman of the Board of Directors, Nikola Rovčanin, the Chief Executive Officer and Ivan Mrvaljević, the Executive Officer of the Directorate for Development and Engineering, with associates. On behalf of the ‘Jaroslav Černi’ Institute for the Development of Water Resources, the meeting was attended by Dejan Divac, the General Manager, Dejan Vučković, the Chief Executive Officer and Milan Tričković, the Chief Designer. Bratisav Stišović, the Chief Executive Officer, Dušan Petković, the Chief Designer and Radmilo Glišić, the Designer attended the meeting on behalf of Hidroinženjering AD Beograd Company.

We would like to remind that the Preliminary Design of the future HPP ’Komarnica’ implies construction of the upstream plant in the canyon of the Komarnica River’s middle flow, at the ’Lonci’ profile, 172 MW installed capacity, with arch-concrete dam measuring 171 metres high and normal water level of 811 m.a.s.l.

In addition, the future optimum manner of running HPP Komarnica was talked about at the meeting, with synchronized operation with downstream cascade sequence - the existing HPP 'Piva' and the future HPP 'Kruševo'.

The expected annual generation of HPP 'Komarnica' reaches up to 213 GWh, in compliance with all the standards related to environmental protection, without disturbing the natural water regime and having no adverse effects which would jeopardize the natural environment and utilization of the ‘Nevidio’ canyon.
