EPCG Marks its 106th Birthday

On today's day 106 years ago, the Montenegrin sovereign Nikola I officially commissioned in Cetinje the first power plant to generate electricity for public purposes. This is when Cetinje obtained electrical lighting, well before many developed European centres. Therefore, August 19th, the date extremely important for our state, has been celebrated as the Day of Elektroprivreda Crne Gore.

Elektroprivreda Crne Gore marks its 106th birthday in an atmosphere of good generating results, looking forward to commencing the works on implementation of a very important project – Construction of Unit II of TPP 'Pljevlja'. Furthermore, we are especially pleased about our customers being increasingly satisfied with the quality of our Company's services.

Thanks to operational readiness and reliability of plant's facilities, as well as our employees' enthusiasm, generating facilities of EPCG generated 1.738.965 MWh during seven months of this year, i.e. by 8.043 MWh more than planned. Just to remind that the installed capacity of Elektroprivreda Crne Gore A.D. Nikšić amounts to 867.5 MW, of which 649 MW (75%) relates to hydropower plants 'Perućica' and 'Piva', and 218.5 MW (25%) to TPP 'Pljevlja'.

The research carried out in July this year by the Centre for Monitoring and Research (CEMI) also confirmed that our Company has been on the right track, with our customers being increasingly satisfied with the quality of our services. The vast majority of citizens thinks the quality of supply has improved or remained at the same level over the last two years, given that the share of replies according to which the quality of supply improved or highly improved soared to 38.4% in July 2016 relative to 29.1% in 2015. Furthermore, the research shown that today citizens are highly satisfied with the quality of our services rendered at counters, our Internet page, means of communication used by EPCG, clarity and simplicity of electricity bills, accuracy of electricity bills, to an important extent with the quality of supply as well as with the communication they have with EPCG.

This year too EPCG decided to surprise its regular payers by valuable awards, and launching the campaign 'Share the Burden 4' we have again offered a unique opportunity to households to repay their electricity-related debt under exceptionally favourable conditions. Organization of a series of campaigns has resulted in an increased number of regular payers. As much as 51.3% of households received their July electricity bill reduced by the amount of a discount awarded to regular payers, or 169.694 customers pay their electricity at the cost lower by 5% or 10%. EPCG will continue to prepare various types of surprise and loyalty programmes in the period to come, which will generate additional benefit for its regular payers.

One of the events that marked the period between two birthdays of EPCG was incorporation of the limited-liability company 'Crnogorski elektrodistributivni sistem' Podgorica - CEDIS. On June 23rd EPCG Shareholders' Meeting unanimously approved the proposal of the Board of Directors on incorporation of the Company, in its capacity of an independent legal entity, with Elektroprivreda Crne Gore being the founder having 100% founder's ownership. The Company performs distribution of electricity within the integral electric power system of Montenegro.
