Best bids have been defined

After public opening of bids as of October 31st regarding the project on construction of the second unit of TPP Pljevlja, the working group, formed by the representatives of EPCG, the Ministry of Economy and Coal Mine, analysed information received from business partners in detail. 

Bid evaluation was followed by identification of the best material received based on quality and direct discussion with representatives of the four companies: Skoda Praha, Powerchina Hubei Electric Power Survey & Design Institute, Istroenergo Group IEG Slovakia-SES Timace and China Machinery Engineering Corporation (CMEC). During the meetings, representatives of those companies have been asked to provide additional explanations of the proposed solutions, in accordance with defined criteria and for the purpose of additional evaluation of investment plan received. Working group will proceed with analysis of data, while development of feasibility analysis, which will define economic sustainability of each project received, is expected to be presented by the end of January 2014.

Following this projects evaluation, working group will prepare and submit detailed information and Feasibility Study to the Board of EPCG for evaluation and approval. The Board will define final investment package to be submitted to Government of Montenegro and its strategic partner, A2A Company. Shareholders will, according to their authorization, take relevant decisions. Afterwards working group will proceed with the following expected activities.

The development plan for TPP Pljevlja Unit II at the location of the existing unit TPP Pljevlja I, with the capacity ranging between 220 – 300 MW and energy efficiency of at least 38%. The project also envisages the development of the district heating system of Pljevlja that will be realized by the Municipality of Pljevlja, while the new unit will be built with the implementation of cutting-edge technology and in compliance with the most recent criteria of environmental protection. Construction of Unit II would bring about the strategic goal of the Montenegrin energy sector – supporting energy independence of the country, fostering soundness of supply as well as enhancing stability and sustainability of energy system in Montenegro, thus positioning our country as electricity exporter.
