55th anniversary of HPP "Perućica"

HPP Perućica celebrates 55 years of presence and operation today.

Successful generation results marked the beginning of 2015 in the oldest large power plant of Montenegro. Around 507 million kWh (kilowatt-hours) of electricity was generated in the first quarter, i.e. 10% more than planned. The positive generation related tendencies and beneficial hydrological circumstances are expected to continue in the rest of the year and it is, therefore, realistic to expect the annual projection of 950 GWh (gigawatt hours) to be met.

HPP Perućica has closed the past year with the generation of 1007 GWh which accounts for 33.23% of total electricity generated by EPCG’s plants. Such a good outcome resulted from favourable hydrological circumstances and, primarily, from exceptional devotion of all the plant’s employees, thus bringing about almost 100% reliability and operability of HPP Perućica.

From the commissioning, HPP Perućica has generated 47,791 GWh of electricity, i.e. averagely 860 GWh per annum. In the year of 2010, we reached record generation when 1,435 GWh was generated and delivered to electricity system.

During the last year, €2 mil was invested in procurement and installation of the equipment. Operation of hydro energy system “Perućica” has continuously high level of operational readiness and reliability due to well-planned and implemented regular and investment maintenance, as well as multi-million investments. In the following period as well, Elektroprivreda Crne Gore will be oriented towards investments into reconstruction, modernization and increase of capacities of its generation facilities.

162 employees of HPP “Perućica” give the immeasurable contribution to successful functioning of the system. Their responsible and utmost professional approach to work is the cause of great generation results of this facility, even after more than half a century of operation.

HPP Perućica is situated in the northern part of Bjelopavlićka plain. First electricity volumes for the Montenegrin Electrical Transmission System were delivered in 1960, and it received its name after the spring of Perućica, which originates in its immediate vicinity.

Water of the upper flow of Zeta River is used by HPP Perućica to generate electricity, i.e. water which flow from Nikšićko field to its turbines at extremely favourable head, at a very short distance. Reservoirs Krupac and Slano, as well as Vrtac retention constitute HPP Perućica, with the installed capacity of 307 MW, and five small hydro-power plants located at the territory of Podgorica, Kolašin, Cetinje and Šavnik, with annual generation of cca 6 million kWh (kilowatt hours) constitute part of HPP Perućica.
