“Zelena zvijezda” to be proud of

Being the national electric power company with the tradition longer than a century, EPCG significantly contributed not only to development of energy sector but also to development of the social community. Being involved in the action for revitalization of the forest park Gorica, the favourite outings spot and ″lungs of the city″ of Podgorica, the company's strong social responsibility orientation was once again proved.

Second year in a row, Arhus centres Podgorica and Nikšić, supported by the Agency for environmental protection and the Environmental movement ″Ozon″, organized awarding of ″Zelena zvijezda″ (Green Star) for environmental improvement and protection.

Elektroprivreda Crne Gore was awarded for socially responsible business operations, particularly for donating 20.000 euros for revitalization of forest park Gorica in Podgorica, which was strongly damaged during the big fire which occurred in this favourite recreation spot of people from Podgorica.

We are proud of this award since Elektroprivreda Crne Gore, the company with a century long tradition, has always contributed not only to development of the energy sector in Montenegro but also to development of the social community. Having in mind the extraordinary situation in last summer, when fire caused considerable damages, particularly the fire occurred in Gorica hill in Podgorica which significantly destroyed the forest known as ″lungs of the city″, Elektroprivreda Crne Gore once again proved its social responsibility orientation and willingness to contribute to revitalization of Gorica hill by donating 20.000 euros. In addition to this donation, employees of EPCG voluntarily participated in afforestation on the very first day of the action.

EPCG is proud of being able to once again prove its social responsibility orientation also by taking part in revitalization of Gorica hill. We hope that our donation will enable for this brand of the capital city and favourable spot of joggers, sportsmen and children to regain its old glow“, Rajko Šebek, director of the Directorate for public relations said on the occasion of awarding.

In addition to Elektropriveda, Embassy of the United States was awarded for the best ecological campaign and UNDP Office for supporting institutions and civil society. The foundation ″Naša Podgorica″ was awarded for public engagement and implemented projects while Regional center for divers' training was awarded for the best ecological action. ″Zelena zvijezda″ was awarded to the daily newspaper ″Dan″ for the best reporting on ecological issues while Milica Novaković, journalist of the daily newspaper Vijesti, received the award for individual contribution regarding media reporting on ecological issues. Citizens from Nikšić who live in Ivan Milutinović Street were given ″Zelena zvijezda″ for the civil initiative in the field of environment.
