Traditionally with “Montenegrin sharks”

Elektroprivreda Crne Gore, in the year of the Olympic Games, is going to support Montenegrin water polo and swimming sports with 100.000 euros. Continuation of traditional cooperation between our Company and the Water Polo and Swimming Federation of Montenegro was officially marked by concluding new one-year contract on general sponsorship signed by Mr Enrico Malerba, CEO of EPCG and Mr Aleksandar Tičić, vice-president of BoD of the Water Polo and Swimming Federation of Montenegro

On that occasion Mr Malerba reminded that strategic partnership between EPCG and this Federation, established in June 2008, became prominent especially after winning the medals in Malaga and Eindhoven, as well as after successful participation in the World League and in the Olympic Games in Peking when the best Montenegrin water polo players came within a whisker of taking a medal in the largest sport event in the world.

“Supporting the best ones at the time when the history of Montenegrin water polo was written in gold letters represents our great honour. We hope that our support and talent of Montenegrin sharks in the forthcoming Olympic Games in London will result in continuation of the best results achieved in Malaga, Peking and Eindhoven. In Italy and Montenegro water polo is one of the main reasons for national proud and honour. Italy was the Olympic winner and the official World Champion, while Montenegro played the finals of the European Championships this year. I am very content with such a relationship between EPCG and the Water Polo and Swimming Federation of Montenegro. EPCG is committed to continue supporting affirmation of the best sport achievements in the future”, Mr Malerba, CEO of EPCG said.

Mr Aleksandar Tičić, vice-president of the Water Polo and Swimming Federation of Montenegro, pointed out that honest and loyal friends who are with you not only when you achieve the best results but also when you have no sport luck to meet expectations, are very rare.

"Our national water polo team also succeeded in passing the qualifications for participation in the Olympic Games in London, proving their superiority and ability to achieve the best sport results. There is no need to mention importance of EPCG for affirmation of Montenegrin water polo. This support before start of the Olympic Games has additional value, but having in mind that the best always goes with the best, support has been expected. Water polo is the most successful Montenegrin sport, the national water polo team is the best Montenegrin sport team and EPCG is one of the best Montenegrin companies. I would like us to play the finals with Italy thus satisfying both us and Mr. Malerba”, Mr. Tičić pointed out.

Mr Ranko Perović, coach of the national water polo team, expressed his satisfaction with sponsorship contract, signed just in time, immediately before the preparations which will start on June 4th in Budva.

"Having in mind the quality of our team, the public expects us to win a medal. It will be hard because we have to be well prepared for the result we wish to achieve. Competition in London is very serious, because six national teams would like to win the medal. We hope that a part of the sport success will be transferred to our sponsors through our cooperation and that we will celebrate together our success in London', Mr Perović said.

Water polo player, Vjekoslav Pasković said that he is very satisfied with continuation of cooperation with EPCG.

"It is up to us to prepare ourselves properly. The Olympic Games are the dream of each sportsman; everyone wants to present themselves in the best light. We will give our best in London', Pasković said.

We would like to remind that Montenegrin sharks won the European gold in 2008, with EPCG being the general sponsor; they were the fourth-placed team in the Olympic games in Peking, they won the gold medal in 2009 World League in Podgorica and the silver medal in the European Champion at the beginning of this year. Junior national team which won the gold medal at the European Championships in Istanbul in 2008 is no less successful since results achieved by the young players prove that there is no cause for concern about the future of Montenegrin water polo.
