Pivsko lake restocked

As socially responsible company, with the goal of maintaining and enriching fish fond in artificial accumulations, EPCG has restocked Pivsko lake, Mratinje stream, and rivers Komarnica, Pridvorica, Bukovica with Tusina and Bijela with Torijevac with 2800 kg of Californian and stream trout worth around 40.000€.

In restocking action, which started last week, in Mratinje stream around 10kg of fish spawn was inserted, 2570 kg in Pivsko lake, 80 kg in Komarnica, 30 kg in Pridvorica, 70 kg in Bukovica and Tusina, while Bijela with Torijevac was restocked with 40kg of trout.
In accordance with Article 40 of the Law on freshwater fishing (sl. list CG 11/07), Pivsko lake with tributaries is fished with indigenous types of fish, spawn which is from the same freshwater basin as the one being restocked. When it comes to restocking Pivsko Lake, it was done with spawn of stream trout (Salmo labrax m.fario).

Fish spawn was acquired from “VGI RIVIR”, with certificate on origin and certificate on health state which was published by republic veterinary inspector.
“EPCG is aware of importance of maintaining fish fund in artificial accumulations, created mainly for the needs of producing electricity. Today, with inserting the last contingent of fish spawn which began last week, in Pivsko Lake around 2800 kg of fish was inserted, worth around 40.000€.

Restocking was done in collaboration with Association of hunters and fishermen “Bajo Pivljanin”, with the supervision of inspector for freshwater fishing of Ministry of agriculture. Last week, Slansko Lake was restocked with around 1200 kg of Californian trout”, reminded director of Directorate for Public Relations EPCG Rajko Sebek.

President of association of hynters and fishermen “Bajo Pivljanin” from Pluzine stated: “I would like to thank to EPCG on successful restocking. Restocking is very important, for us and for city of Pluzine. I would like to thank to all, hoping that we will continue successful collaboration with EPCG. In the following 15 days a ban will be in place.” Dragan Medjedovic, agriculture inspector for freshwater fishing stated that restocking was done in the best way.

Piva Lake was formed in 1975 by building 220m high dam. Its area is around 16 million cubic meters and with full accumulation there is around billion cubic meters of water, in total length of around 45 km in two prongs, and in several places it is 200 meters deep. Piva Lake is accumulation with the cleanest water in the Balkans and represents one of the most beautiful sights in this part of the world. The lake is sailable throughout the year, temperature of the water in the summer is favorable for swimming, and clean water is great for different sporting activities, especially sport fishing.
