December electricity consumption by households higher by 25.8%

  • Absolute record high distribution consumption of electricity in Montenegro (households and industry) recorded on January 9 

In December households consumed 132.717.786 kWh (kilowatt hours), which is 25.8% more than that of November, or 10.8% more than consumption recorded in December of 2015. The maximum daily distribution consumption (households and industry) was registered on December 30 – 9,559 MWh. 

Consumption has also increased during first nine days of 2017 by 18.75% relative to the same period of 2016. The maximum daily distribution consumption of electricity (households and industry) over the first nine days of 2017 was registered on January 9, amounting to 11,050 MWh, representing an absolute record high or the largest daily distribution electricity consumption in Montenegro ever. 

An average December electricity bill for households in Montenegro (excluding non-read metering points located in facilities not inhabited on a permanent basis) amounts to €43.01, according to increased December consumption. Households in Žabljak recorded lowest average consumption of €20.86, and the highest consumption during the preceding month was registered in Kotor where households consumed €54.94 on average. The bill worth more than €150 will be received by 2.7% of customers, and consumption of €100 - €150 was read by 5.49% of customers. December bills reduced by the amount of discount granted to regular payers will be received by even 52% of Montenegrin households, i.e. by 173,936 customers.
